Worked well for containers and raised bed mixes
I used this for making my own soil mixes for vegetable gardening in containers and raised beds. I was looking for a more environmentally friendly alternative to perlite .I combined it with ordinary topsoil, compost, worm castings, and alfalfa meal. I also used this as a light mulch over seedlings to retain some moisture in the top layer of the soil. While I do not have a control group to compare to, I had good yields on a variety of crops such as carrots, herbs, greens, and tomatoes.
