The BuildASoil Commercial Protocol
Commercial feed schedule calculator
Enter your rooms and we will size the whole four-layer program: how much soil, how much top dress, how much biology, how much plant feed, week by week, with the order list at the end.
Read the Commercial Protocol first if you want the reasoning behind the four layers.
Step 1: How your rooms are set up
Bed length (ft)
Bed width (ft)
Number of beds
Soil depth (in)
Total plant count
Sets the carrier water for the root zone pass, not the dose.
Root zone depth (in)
The top layer the biology is dosed against. Six inches is what Rootwise's published rates work out to.
Step 2: Run length
Week one is transplant. Everything after the flip slides with this.
Flower week one is the flip. Set this by your slowest variety.
Step 3: Plant feed strength, set by plant density and canopy
Same soil volume, more plants pulling on it, so the tank has to make up the difference. Density is the variable that matters most here, and canopy size in flower is the second. If your plants are pushing well past the footprint they are rooted in, feed them like it.

How much biology
Worth being straight about this: the published rate is what a commercial operation can justify spending per acre, not the point where biology stops helping. There is no level where more of it turns harmful, and growers chasing records run many times this. The ceiling here is your budget, not the plants.
How you apply the biology
You buy the same amount of product either way. Hitting the root zone with only enough water to distribute it is what keeps the dose this small, because that is the only place the biology does anything.
Getting the biology where it actually works
Finish your watering and feeding first. The root zone pass is not a watering. Going in on already-moist soil keeps the dose in the top few inches instead of running it through to the bottom of the bed.
Mix it into about 8 ounces of water per plant. That is where the root zone pass number above comes from, and it is the ratio the published dose chart is built on: five gallons of solution is sized for eighty plants, not for a room. Stir it and keep stirring while you apply, then run it in a ring at the base of each plant, from the stem out a few inches. Mix only what you will use that day.
Why mixing it into the full tank takes so much more to do the same job. Mycorrhizae have to physically reach a root to form the relationship, and they do not travel far on their own. A propagule that lands eight inches out in bulk soil may never meet a root at all.
Applied at the base of the plant, nearly all of the dose lands in the few inches of soil holding the feeder roots. Carried in your whole irrigation volume, the same dose spreads through the entire bed, most of which is soil with no root in it. Same product, same cost, far fewer successful introductions. You are not buying more biology when you run it that way, you are buying enough that a diluted application still finds roots.

Commercial pricing and freight. Bulk soil moves by the yard on freight and gets quoted on your location, volume and how the truck gets unloaded, so it is listed above but not added to your cart. Everything else goes in the cart, including the 1 Yard Super Sack of Pro Blend, which ships free on any order with two or more items.
