Rootwise Mycrobe Directions 1 teaspoon = 5 g 1 cup = 8.5 ounces ROOTWISE MYCROBE COMPLETE is "A diverse inoculum of Beneficial Microbes and Mycorrhizae which establish soil-to-root relationships that may assist nutrient uptake, pathogen resistance, and overall plant vigor." Improving nutrient availability and plant health through active soil biology is achieved through balance. Establishing the ideal symbiotic relationship between our crop’s roots and the soil relies on a diverse population of bacteria and fungi. Each unique microbial function group is responsible for specific duties that trigger a chain reaction resulting in enzymatic exchange, metabolite production, and efficient uptake of nutrients. The culmination of this process results in our crop’s ability to achieve maximum genetic potential. How is this accomplished? Most of us are familiar with the principles of balancing nutrients within our soils through fertilization and amending. The same method is applied to biological inputs.Consistent, balanced doses have the greatest benefit. As always, heavy doses of any one input, whether it be a macronutrient or single microbe, can cause an imbalance somewhere in the processes of overall plant health. Employing full-spectrum biology is an invaluable tool for managing your living soil systems. This approach is the foundation for the microbial populations found in Rootwise Mycrobe Complete. Carefully chosen to achieve a balanced exchange between plant and soil, multiple species from each function group are present in agricultural strength populations. This inoculant works equally well for jump starting biological actions in newly built soil mixes as it does maintaining ongoing populations in well established soils. Want all 3 Rootwise Support System products?Get the Rootwise Combo Pack and save! Useful Info Rootwise Mycrobe Complete and Enzyme Explanation from BuildASoil on Vimeo. How To Use Helpful tips: Our dilution rates make a very concentrated solution. Apply efficiently. We recommend consistent follow-up doses after initial inoculation to encourage ideal nutrient cycling. After initial mixing, allow sufficient time (1/2 hour) for microbes to come out of dormancy before applying. Prior to application, ensure your soil or medium is sufficiently saturated, then use just enough liquid concentrate to penetrate root zone. This ensures your microbes have a hospitable environment in which they can immediately colonize. It is most effective to bring the microbes out of dormancy using our recommendations and applying as a root drench, however, if you wish to incorporate the inoculant “dry” into your soil mix, make sure your soil has sufficient moisture and will be immediately planted whether you use a cover crop or main crop. Inoculated soils that sit in totes or bags inevitably have inconsistent moisture levels and temperature zones, all leading to less than ideal survivability for soil biology.

BuildASoil's New Horticultural Aloe! Key Points: The Lignin's in Aloe Vera allow the plants to utilize the nutrient and moisture supply more efficiently with less stress on the plant. Plants grow healthier, larger and greener due to the plants ability to better use the UV rays from the sun allowing photosynthesis to take place more efficiently. Does not alter the genetic makeup of the plant. Organically grown product. Proven and documented by Texas A&M. The new aloe vera stabilization process is critical to obtain the result listed here. The first patent I was awarded was the hand filleted method. The rind was discarded and only the fillet was used. After 38 years it was discovered that a large percentage of the actives in the aloe vera plant were being thrown away with the rind. In 1962 I developed and patented the whole leaf method to stabilize the gel. Clinical studies showed this process to be superior to the hand filleted method of processing. In 1984, I received a third patent to process aloe vera to create a product to stimulate plant growth by processing the aloe vera leaves differently. It should be noted that this whole leaf aloe vera product can not be consumed orally. It is for plants only. It is hoped that this background information assists you in becoming more knowledgeable about our company and the benefits that can be derived from the use of our aloe product. Useful Info It is important that workers wear rubber gloves when handling the freeze dried powder and the concentrated liquid made from the powder due to the laxative effect. This mineral can increase stress resistance, boost photosynthesis and chlorophyll content, improve drought resistance, salt tolerance and soil fertility and prevent lodging. lt can also reduce insect pressure, frost damage and destructive disease while lowering irrigation rates, neutralizing heavy metal toxicity and countering the negative effects of excess sodium. If I were to tell you that this same missing mineral can increase root growth, boost yield and enhance crop quality, you could well ask, “how could we have overlooked something so important?” and you would be correct. It has been a serious oversight. The mineral in question is silicon, and science is rapidly revealing the scope and scale of our silicon neglect. Poverty in a Sea of Abundance Silicon is not classed as an essential nutrient, but, in response to a wealth of new findings highlighting the importance of this nutrient, that status may soon change. Silicon is the second most abundant mineral on the planet. It is everywhere. Clays are alumina silicates and sand is largely silicon, so how could there be a shortage of silicon? The answer lies in the form of silicon that enters the plant. Plants uptake silicon as silicicacid and this is what is missing in the soil. Something we have done in conventional agriculture appears to have compromised the conversion of insoluble silicon into the plant available form. It may reflect a mineral imbalance or we may have knocked out some of the soil microbe species that solubilise this mineral. It is not yet understood what drove the widespread deficiency but we do know that a healthy, disease suppressive soil should contain 100 ppm of monosilicic acid (as measured in a soil analysis) and very few soils come anywhere near that mark! Little was known about the multiple roles of silicon until recently. It was known to be present in every soil but it was only when it became less plant available that it was realized that there may be a link between this loss and a host of growing problems. During the last decade, silicon seems to have become “flavor of the month” in the soil science community. Researchers have delved more deeply and hundreds of papers have been presented at the International Silicon Conferences in Brazil and South Africa. This neglected mineral is now emerging as a key player in proactive pest and disease management and the production of nutrient dense food. If you are not yet aware of the silicon story then this article should serve to fill some gaps. In Conclusion Proactivity is the essence of the biological approach. If you understand how plants protect themselves, then you provide the necessary components to maximise that process and minimize the need for chemical intervention. In this context, silicon is an essential pre-requisite for proactive pest and stress management and should be an integral part of every good nutrition program. Source: https://www.thcfarmer.com/community/threads/plant-available-silicon-soluble-silicon-in-fertilizer-sources-aafpco-approved-method.76318/ How To Use Dry Recipe Use 1.5 Grams (Just under 1/2 teaspoon) Per Gallon of Water for Foliar Spray or Soil Drench. How to use this powder dry with your Neem Oil: Mix 1.5 grams (Just under 1/2 Teaspoon) AgSil 16H with 1/2 Ounce Ahimsa Pure Neem Oil to emulsify the oil. Then mix this emulsified oil with one gallon final volume spray solution. Spray every other week covering all plant surfaces (top and bottom of leaves) until it runs off. Liquid Recipe Make your own nutrient bottle! Here is a recipe to make a liquid version of a Silica Nutrient. Just follow the mixing recipe below.   If you don't have a scale: Use 3 Tablespoons of Agsil16H for every 8 ounces water. Following the above recipe to make 1 Liter of Liquid Solution you would mix 148 Grams of Agsil16H into 1 Liter of water. Then you can store it in a bottle or jar and shake well before using. (1 Liter of water is about 34 Ounces) Here is a photo what 148 Grams of Agsil16H looks like. I weighed this out and then put into this container so you can hopefully do this without a scale at your house. Use the Liquid Solution you just made at 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. Yes, it's safe to use on every single watering, but we don't do that because we don't feel it's required with ANY ingredient. Some people use Aloe and Silica with every watering and we have seen stunning results. Use 1/2 teaspoon of the solution per gallon to foliar spray. (I've used 2-3 Teaspoons per gallon without ill effects, but encourage you to start slow and see what you think)

EM-5 Now Available through BuildASoil.com  Formula EM-5 is a versatile tool in your garden and is typically home made. We realized that most gardeners needed Formula EM-5 when it was already too late for them to start brewing it all up and fermenting it. After we realized this we set out to create a product that would only include the very best ingredients and be shelf stable. Below we provide the recipe to make your own for free but have found that most people prefer to purchase our Pre-Made and Shelf stable version instead. Ingredients in our Formula EM-5: Purified Water, Organic EM-1, Organic Apple Juice Concentrate, Organic Grape Alcohol, Organic Yucca Extract, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic Peppermint Essential Oil. This is safe to spray on flowers when diluted and is best used throughout the growing season. Formula (EM5) RECIPE for home made: As always, we are giving you the recipe to make your own spectacular homemade plant wash. The fermentation extracts properties out of plant materials and the alcohol and retains them in the liquid. The EM1 in the recipe is the fermentation catalyst. This is an all-natural concoction that can be made by anyone and is not harmful to humans or animals. It combines water, EM1, a distilled spirit, molasses, and vinegar. The most successful programs with BAS Plant Wash involve alternating its applications with Activated EM1 and EMFPE. The essential oils that are the active ingredient in the BAS Plant Wash are exempt from EPA registration as a minimum risk pesticide. The formula for one gallon of EM5 is as follows (1:1:1:1:20): 3/4 C EM1 3/4 C Molasses 3/4 C Vinegar (white or apple cider) 3/4 C distilled alcohol (vodka, whiskey, tequila) Add some other plant material (fresh hot peppers or garlic...or fresh herbs that have known pesticide properties like mint leaves, lavender, eucalyptus, mella luca, neem, etc.) Fill the gallon container with warm water (110-120ºF) Seal and ferment until pH goes below 4.0 Spray EM5 alternately with EM1 or Fermented Plant Extract through a hose-end sprayer.Often people will set up an informal program as follows (Diluting the AEM1, EM5, or EM FPE with 500 parts water): Week One: Apply AEM1, 1 gallon for 1/2 acre propertyWeek Two: Apply EM5, 1 gallon for 1/2 acre propertyWeek Three: Apply EM FPE, 1 gallon for 1/2 acre propertyWeek Four: Apply AEM1, 1 gallon for 1/2 acre property This pattern is repeated throughout the growing season. Directions: Use 1 ounce per gallon for normal foliar spray use in container gardens. Use up to 8 ounces per gallon for problems such as the growth of algae, odor-causing bacteria, and mold stains. Use as general house hold cleaner for any purpose.

Use This Pumice As Direct Replacement For Perlite Last Longer Than Perlite & Has More Minerals! This is the BuildASoil Way! Pumice makes soil that lasts forever and is more sustainable than throwing your potting soil away after each use. 3/8" x 1/4" Pumice is perfect for potting soil. Optimizes drainage Retains and evenly distributes moisture and nutrients Promotes strong root growth Improves root aeration Low Heavy Metals Does not contain clay or organic material (i.e. montmorillonite, illite, kaolinite) Minimizes root diseases Clean from disease or weed seeds and environmentally friendly Pumice is created when super-heated, highly pressurized rock is violently ejected from a volcano. The unusual foamy configuration of pumice happens because of simultaneous rapid cooling and rapid depressurization. Pumice is a natural, lightweight, volcanic material widely used in horticulture and hydroponics. The porosity of Pumice provides an abundance of air space maintaining aerobic conditions around the roots. The inert nature allows fertilization to be controlled in a very exact manner. The porous nature and natural surface tension around the outside of the Pumice particles allow it to hold water yet retain sufficient air space to optimize drainage and promote strong root growth. Its insulating properties increase the temperature of the plant food favoring plant nutrition and growth. Because of its chemical and physical properties, Pumice promotes excellent nutrition distribution, strong root development and excellent plant growth. The absorbency of Pumice allows it to retain moisture and nutrients. The gradual release of the moisture and nutrients enables a considerable reduction in irrigation time. Because BuildASoil Pumice is mined, it is clean and free of disease spores and weed seeds, which is an advantage over river pumice. How To Use Use for potting soil at 15-40% by Volume

(The industry went crazy because they use the food grade Quillaja in Vaccines) Because of the shortage in the market place, we went to great lengths to secure and only provide the highest quality tested and verified Quillaja on the market. You'll be happy to know both versions are crafted from rigorously tested materials. This means that both versions pass strict testing for Saponin, Heavy Metals, Pathogens and any adulterant. We are proud to offer you the original and the best. VIRGIN BLUE OYSTER STRAW LOGS have never been fruited and are ready for you to grow fresh mushrooms and/or use as the best mulch in the world. Made from certified organic straw and a specially selected Blue Oyster colonized grain. All lab work done right here in Western Colorado. Populated with lots of Fungal activity these Blue Oyster Mushroom Straw Logs are now made from scratch locally here in Western Colorado. LIVING MULCH!!!!! Important to note: The Photos shown were incubated for 2 weeks. They are freshly inoculated and incubated for 5 days before delivery to BAS Logs may take 1-2 weeks to fully colonize, this can vary up to 3-5 weeks if shipped during cold weather months, 30-50 degrees while in transit. Best to colonize log in 65-75 degree temps once Straw log is received, does not need to be in a dark location, but kept out of direct sunlight Logs are inoculated with a mixture of colonized oyster mushroom mycelium on Sorghum (Milo) and Oat grain. FREE SHIPPING AVAILABLE on all Blue Oyster Mushroom Straw Logs*! * free shipping not eligible for shipments to Alaska and Hawaii Grow your own mushrooms and then use as mulch, or just use them as mulch the day they arrive. The choice is yours! These logs used to be sold AFTER the mushroom farm had already harvested 1-2 flushes from each bag. The waste created from the mushroom farm became our absolute favorite mulch. Over the years, we thought about making this product from scratch instead of using it as a waste from the farm and in 2022 the local mushroom farm closed it's doors. This then accellerated the idea and we are now proud to offer Virgin Blue Oyster Straw logs ready to grow your own mushrooms or just use as mulch. Notice: Over time the logs will start to get covered in green mold that is actually trichoderma if left inside the plastic. Some people prefer this and others want balance and will opt to open and mulch right away. It's all up to you!!! Trichoderma is aggresive and although very beneficial to soil growing it can also take over some of your other beneficials. Personally I'm going to use these without letting them sit for to long to make sure I have balance. Our Oyster mushroom straw has been shredded, then pasteurized at 170 degrees F for one hour, which cleans it of any seeds or contaminants. This specific strain of Oyster mushroom thrives in a temperature range of 65-75 degrees F. As the mycelium primarily decomposes the straw, sugar and protein are made available to the soil web. Nematodes and top feeding roots will work together with the straw when used as a top dressing in pots or on any soil. Mycelium can work as an active composter on your top soil when kept moist, and remain active with in the soil network as a super-communicator improving overall soil health. Useful Info Storage: Mushroom Straw Logs are essentially a living culture. For the mycelium to continue to survive within the straw logs, they need to be stored in a cool dark area, out of direct sunlight. Ideally between 65-75 degrees. Higher temperatures than that generally start to produce more trichoderma, and will take over the mycelium within the log over time. For some this is undesired. Even under the best environmental conditions, these logs will still eventually turn into trichoderma with enough time if they are un-used. How to Use Use as mulch directly out of the bag! Or if you want to grow culinary mushrooms first: To grow oyster mushrooms: Cut 5-10 holes in the bag by making a 1" slit in the shape of an X pattern. The mushrooms will then start to grow outside of the bag. After a few days you will have mushrooms growing and you can harvest them when ready. After you are done you can dry and soak and then flush again or you can just use as mulch. Spread out onto your garden beds and/or growing containers as a high fungal living mulch. This mulch layer will help aid in the breakdown of delivery of all top dressings. Leave in the bag for multiple months and the entirety of the log will turn to trichoderma, a genus of fungi that is present in all living soils.

Crops are subject to many kinds of stress conditions that limit production and quality. ThermX helps plants overcome these stresses. What is ThermX?ThermX is a concentrated plant extract meal containing steroid saponin. This natural compound is found in certain desert plants like Yucca. Steroid saponin helps these plants overcome the adverse growing conditions of the desert. When placed in the root zone, ThermX helps crop plants, trees and turf in much the same manner. How does ThermX work? Action in Soils:Steroid saponin is a natural wetting agent that reduces surface tension. This action enhances better: Water penetration into the soil Subbing of beds Drainage of excess water from the root zone Action on Plants and Trees:Under stress conditions, steroid saponin increases the plant’s ability to utilize water more efficiently, resulting in: Improved seed germination and stand establishment Increased water uptake Improved fertilizer uptake Irrigation Water and Nutrient Losses:Water and nutrients are wasted if they aren’t used by the plants. The root systems are often denied the water and nutrients needed because of soil compaction, poor water penetration and subbing, and by the action of excess salinity and alkali. ThermX relieves these stresses, increasing crop yields.American Extracts supplies different agriculture products to suit everyone’s application needs. All are made from 100% natural yucca. Insect Frass - Black Soldier Fly Larvae - Derived from an incredible company in Canada all from the digestate of black soldier fly larvae. In all natural ecosystems (where there are no man-made chemical pesticides), insects feed on and digest vegetation, and give it right back to plants in the form of nature's perfect plant food. Plants benefit insects - Insects benefit plants! 100% Organic plant food, and so much more... Estimated NPK Value of 3-2-4   Weighs roughly 4 oz per cup. Insect Frass naturally contains the nutrition plants require, beneficial micro-organisms, and the only immediately plant-available source of chitin (pronounced “Kite-in”). Chitin fortifies a plant from the inside out, causing an "auto-immune" response that signals a plant to produce natural toxins which fend off its natural enemies like pests and fungal pathogens. The EPA says that chitin and chitosan (see FAQ's) defend against botrytis (grey mold), powdery mildew, early and late blight, fungal pathogens in the root zone (root rot) and root-feeding nematodes. Insect Frass does NOT cause a plant to kill beneficial insects or beneficial nematodes. Insect Frass is NOT a pesticide. Insect Frass is NOT a fungicide. Insect Frass will NOT put insects into your garden. Give your plants all the benefits of Insect Frass, without the bugs! Yah Whey by Thrive Probiotics Revolutionary liquid probiotic crafted from the Whey of Kefir Researching Kefir quickly leads one to find a myriad of legends pertaining to this ancient, thousands of year old, practice of fermenting milk to produce a stable probiotic. This probiotic is legendary for its health properties. Ingredients: Purified Water, Organic Molasses, Yeast Cultures, Lactic Acid Bacteria, Humic Acid Whey from kefir grains have a complex microbial biology composition with polysaccharides, nutrients, minerals and proteins. These fermented compounds create a diverse probiotic whey for your plants and soil. Soon you'll be shouting, YAH WHEY!!!!! As your plants pray to the light. Check out the photo of the active fermentation. That is without any magnification! The image is taken with a normal cell phone camera. So what does that have to do with growing plants? Organic matter in the garden is broken down by probiotics, but an often forgotten component is the Nitrogen that the breakdown requires to speed up the process. Composting is all about Carbon to Nitrogen ratios. Organic Potting soils can have high carbon and when amending with rice hulls and organic amendments the soil can have an elevated C:N ratio which means the soil will be taking Nitrogen for a while before it starts to release it again. Now that you understand the problem, you can clearly see the solution. YAH WHEY! When you use stabilized Kefir Whey designed by Thrive you will be simultaneously feeding the soil much needed amino proteins (Nitrogen) That will help the breakdown of nutrients and also make readily available food for your plants. Once you see the level of calcium, nutrients and vitamins that are contained within kefir and combine that with the knowledge of the diversity of lactobacillus cultures present you can really start to understand that this is more than your average product. This Yah Whey was made to help your soil and your plants THRIVE! Storage: Keep product in dark cool area. Keep fully sealed after use. For extended storage (4-12 months) store in fridge. This Comfrey Fermented Plant Extract is made with love on a small farm near Paonia Colorado using natural probiotic farming practices. This farm has been operating under the direction of Miles Filippelli since 2016 for the purpose of producing high quality plant inputs for BuildASoil and the Fermented Plant Extracts product line. Lactobacillus bacteria are saprophytes, meaning they are decomposers, they break down organic matter. This trait is harnessed in the production of Fermented Plant Extracts where lactobacillus are fed specific nutrient dense food sources for the purpose of breaking down plant compounds and extracting them into a liquid form. Derived From: Clean Mountain Water, Comfrey, molasses, sorghum syrup, Lactic Acid Bacteria sourced from local goat whey, and EM-1. This is then fermented until the plant matter is digested and extracted into the liquid and the sugars are consumed by the microbes to lock in the PH for stability and ease of use in the garden. Ingredients: Water, Lactic Acid Bacteria sourced from local goat whey, Molasses, Sorghum Syrup, Plant Matter (Comfrey), EM1 Why Use? This particular Fermented Plant Extract is made from comfrey, a plant that is known to be nutrient dense, medicinal, and beneficial for local biodiversity. Comfrey has been used in many traditional settings as food, medicine, soil conditioners, foliar sprays, green mulches, etc. Comfrey Fermented Plant Extract is particularly useful for vegetative growth and in the transition from veg to bloom; however, Comfrey Fermented Plant Extract is very well rounded and can be used at any time of growth, it will do no harm to feed it during flowering as well.   Useful Info Article about the usefulness of comfreyArticle about comfrey nutritional content Store in a cool & dark place at room temperature, 68oF to 86oF (20oC-30oC) and out ofdirect sunlight. The Official Clackamas Coots Complete Soil Building Kit Coots Nutrients and Coots Minerals BEWARE of other Coots Mixes that don't reveal the source of ingredients or the amounts in the kit. Many people can make a "Coot Kit" but we are the Original and are approved by Clackamas Coot himself. 10% of the Retail Price goes directly to Clackamas Coot for his support. ---->>>This kit includes the proper amounts of nutrients and minerals to Build Soil from scratch using standard size Sphagnum Peatmoss Bales. Selecting the Right Nutrient Kit: 2.2 CF Bale Kit Mix into a 2.2 CF Bale of Peat Moss plus 3 Cubic Feet of Compost and 3 Cubic Feet of Aeration. 3.0 CF Bale Kit Mix into a 3.0 CF Bale of Peat Moss plus 4.67 Cubic feet of Compost and 4.67 Cubic feet of Aeration. (Most people will round up or down to the nearest Cubic Foot) 3.8 CF Bale KitMix into 3.8 CF Bale of Peat Moss plus 6 Cubic Feet of Compost and 6 Cubic Feet of Aeration. Mix and then let sit for 1-2 weeks before planting. Useful Info Building your own soil? This is our preferred method... This Recipe is inspired by and credited to Mr. "ClackamasCoots" aka "LumperDawgz" I have always wanted to offer a nutrient kit in the style of ClackamasCoots. This nutrient kit is proven. It works because it is such a simple and affordable starting point to base your soil from. Use this kit and our free DIY nutrient E-Book and you will have healthy soil and healthy plants. (CC is by no way connected to this Nutrient Kit, but it is his recipe and I have his blessing) Want to learn more about Building soil? Check out this blog article: Building Soil Article What you'll be getting in the Kit: Free Shipping Nutrients: (Use at 2.5 Cups Per cubic foot of soil or about 5-6 Tablespoon per gallon of soil) 1. Crustacean Meal - Crab and Shrimp 2. Kelp Meal - Thorvin Organic Icelandic kelp 3. Neem Cake/Karanja Cake 70/30 - West Coast Hort. Neem and Ahimsa Karanja 4. Milled Malted Barley - Premium Organic 2 Row Malted Barley Minerals: (Use at 4 Cups Per Cubic foot of soil or about 1/2 Cup per gallon of soil) 1. BuildASoil Basalt - Our Favorite Rock Dust for trace minerals. Highly paramagnetic. 2. Gypsum Dust - Calcium and Sulfur 3. Oyster Shell Flour - Calcium Carbonate - Adds available calcium and limes the Peat moss. We separate the two so that the natural moisture in the rock dust doesn't effect the raw nutrients. Dump all the material into your soil for the proper mineral and nutrient balance. What You'll Need To Get To Finish The Recipe: To finish this recipe you will need equal parts of the below, 1 Part Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss: Available in 2.2 Cubic Foot Bales, 3.0 Cubic Foot Bales and 3.8 Cubic Foot Bales at Home Depot and most gardening stores. Notice: The 2.2 Bale will fluff up to about 3.0 Cubic Feet, the 3.0 Bale will fluff up to about 4.67 Cubic Feet (Most people will round up or down to the nearest Cubic Foot) and the 3.8 Bale will fluff to about 6 Cubic Feet. 1 Part High Quality Compost or Worm Castings: Search for local compost or castings on craigslist or order some here on our website. If opting to use worm castings, we advise using only 5-15% of the 33% total compost due to the potential for sodium excess. 1 Part Aeration Amendment: Something to aerate the soil like perlite does in normal potting mix. We like to use Pumice and Rice hulls but you can use whatever is available to you including perlite, rice hulls, lava rock, pumice etc. You'll notice there isn't any High P ingredient like Soft Rock Phosphate or Fish Bone Meal and after speaking with Coot about this I realized a few things. This Kit has many ingredients that contain Phosphorous at normal levels which will not be harmful to Mycorrhizal fungi. High P amendments can have a negative effect on the soil Mycorrhizal life, for this reason Coot recommends using this recipe. Here is the Mix as written by ClackamasCoots: Equal parts of Sphagnum peat moss, some aeration deal (pumice, rice hulls, lava rock - whatever is sitting in the garage) and finally some mix of humus - my compost, worm castings some black leaf mold I bought from the local 'worm guy' To each 1 c.f. of this mix I add the following: 1/2 cup organic Neem meal 1/2 cup organic Kelp meal 1/2 cup Crab meal (or Crustacean meal when available - it has Shrimp meal with the Crab meal. It's a local product from the fisheries on the Oregon & Washington Coasts)4 cups of some minerals - rock dustAfter the plant is in the final container I top-dress with my worm castings at 2" or so and then I hit it with Aloe vera juice and Comfrey extract. Or Borage. Or Stinging Nettle. Or Horsetail ferns. Whatever is ready. That's it. Why re-invent the wheel? This proven mix is simple. If you intend on using sphagnum peat moss then this kit is perfect for you. With the low PH of peat moss this kit comes with oyster flour to add lots of calcium and also help raise the ph to proper levels. If you would like Build A Soil with another base like, Bagged Potting Soil, Pro-Mix, Sunshine Mix or even Coconut Coir then you'll want to check out our other products. Why is this Nutrient Kit So important? "A wonderful thing about a balanced, mineralized soil based on the soil's exchange capacity is that everything else becomes easier. The soil pH self-adjusts to its optimum, plant disease and insect problems largely disappear, water retention, drainage, soil texture, and rate of decay of organic matter all become self-regulating and automatic, weather permitting. The grower knows that the nutrients are in the crop because the nutrients are available in the soil. The soil life is active and healthy and helping to make these nutrients available, and the plants growing on this ideal soil have free-choice of any nutrient they want, in balance, a balance designed by intelligent science and observation." - Michael Astera How To Use Nutrients:Use at 2 Cups Per cubic foot of soil or about 4 Tablespoon per gallon of soil Minerals:Use at 4 Cups Per Cubic foot of soil or about 1/2 Cup per gallon of soil

For instance, if you wish to get faster vegetative growth you would ferment fast growing green leaves to feed to your plants. We plan on using Pellets for soil mixing and powder anytime even coverage is needed across the soil surface. Read more about the powder vs pellets below. Caution: Can be harmful to young seedlings, be careful. Worms will move away from mustard meal when top dressed and if they can't move away it will be toxic to them. This stuff is potent and we are still learning, so proceed with caution if you are going to go hard. SEED MEAL FOR WEED AND DISEASE CONTROL IN TURF Mustard Seed Meal for Management of Root-knot Nematode and Weeds in Tomato Production Using High Glucosinolate Mustard as a Cover Crop to Reduce Weeds and Disease Biologically Active Compounds in Mustard Seeds: A Toxicological Perspective PELLETS vs. MILLED Mustard Seed Meal Fertilizer is available in two different forms: Pelleted and Milled. Each of the two forms are from the exact same formulation, but have different uses and benefits. PELLETS Mustard Seed Meal Pellets are best used in applications where a slow release of fertilizer is desired. The pellets are less distributed throughout the soil and therefore break down at a slower rate. This is ideal for situations where long-lasting, slow release fertilizer is desirable. Application can be done by hand, or by pellet spreader/injector. The pellets are strong and hold together well, minimizing breakage in mechanical spreaders. In most cases, this is the most desirable form for top- or side-dressing, potted horticulture and backyard gardeners. MILLED Milled Mustard Seed Meal Fertilizer is simply a result of grinding and crushing the pellets into a powder-like consistency. When applied to the soil, Milled is better distributed throughout the soil profile. This allows for a more uniform availability and quicker release of nutrients. It is also more rapidly consumed by microorganisms, quickly creating a healthy living soil. It is best applied by hand or by a drop spreader (mulch/compost spreader). Careful consideration should be taken while using mechanized spreaders as the material has a high oil content that may cause clumping or clogging of machinery. It is best spread during days with mild temperatures and low humidity to avoid clumping. Milled is recommended for most pre-plant applications on the farm, garden, or container growing. As always, be sure to allow for a minimum three-week plant back with all pre-plant applications. Applications of Mustard Seed Meal selects for specific bacterial and fungal communities in the soil. These specific communities work to improve nutrient availability for the crop, reduce plant stress, increase plant vigor, and improve yields. Scientists nation-wide have reported a consistent promotion of soil fungal and bacterial communities containing Trichoderma spp., Streptomyces spp., Pseudomonas spp., Anthrobotrys spp., Plectosphaerella cucumerina, Dactylella oviparasitica, Paecilomyces lilacinus and many more. Each of these beneficial microbes play a crucial role in the complex interaction occurring between soil and roots creating a long-lasting symbiotic relationship that aids in the enhanced production and protection of crops. Check out this blog article: Building Soil Article Nutrient Kits Include: (Use at 2.5 Cups Per cubic foot of soil or about 5-6 Tablespoon per gallon of soil) 1. Crustacean Meal - Crab and Shrimp 2. Kelp Meal - Thorvin Brand Ascophyllum Nodosum 3. Neem Cake/Karanja Cake - 70/30 Premium Organic Neem Cake Imported from India (West Coast Horticulture or Neem Resource) 4. Milled Malted Barley Organic 2 Row (Our recipe is based on 1/2 cup per cubic foot with each ingredient and Milled Malted Barley at 1 cup per cubic foot) Selecting the right Nutrient Kit: 5.33 lb Nutrient Kit (12 Cups)- Mixes into 6 Cubic Feet of Soil = $33.00 8 lb Nutrient Kit (18 Cups)- Mixes into 9 Cubic Feet of Soil (1/3 Yard) = $44.00 12 lb Nutrient Kit (28 Cups) - Mixes into 14 Cubic Feet of Soil (1/2 Yard) = $66.00 24 lb Nutrient Kit (54 Cups) - Mixes into 27 Cubic Feet of Soil (1 Yard) = $110.00 32 lb Nutrient Kit (72 Cups) - Mixes into 36 Cubic Feet of soil (1.38 Yards) = $126.50 1,200 lb Nutrient Kit - Mixes into 50 Cubic Yards of Soil = $4,400.00 What You'll Need To Get To Finish The Recipe: 1. Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss: Available in 2.0 Cubic Foot Bales and 3.8 Cubic Foot Bales at Home Depot and most gardening stores. Notice: The 2.0 Bale will fluff up to about 3.0 Cubic Feet and the 3.8 Bale will fluff to about 6 Cubic Feet. 2. High Quality Compost or Worm Castings: Search for local compost or castings on craigslist or order some here on our website. 3. Aeration Amendment: Something to aerate the soil like perlite does in normal potting mix. Mix and then let sit for 1-2 weeks before planting. The soil life is active and healthy and helping to make these nutrients available, and the plants growing on this ideal soil have free-choice of any nutrient they want, in balance, a balance designed by intelligent science and observation." - Michael Astera

OptiVeg - Chitin and Aminos OptiVeg™, formerly InvigaRoot, is the markets first truly tested chitin product. As an all natural and organic soil amendment, chitin has an array of benefits such as reducing the effects of light and transplant shock, preventing the growth of detrimental soil bacteria, improving plant vigor and resistance, increasing root growth and fungal inoculation all the while increasing yields down the line. Since chitin is present in the cuticle of all fungi, incorporating a chitin based product in conjunction with your favorite fungal inoculant speeds up the inoculation process allowing you to use less product and reduce costs. Unlike all other chitin based products, OptiVeg™ is not derived from marine sources and thus does not include detrimental minerals that affect nutrient uptake, soil pH and overall plant health. In addition to chitin,OptiVeg™ is chock full of amino acids which make up roughly 60% of the overall composition. Titan Biologics worked tirelessly to develop a testing protocol which ensures a stable and consistent chitin content. OptiVeg™ is not salt based and contains no synthetic components therein reducing the risk of feeding too much. At 8.2% chitin,OptiVeg™ is a must use product for any growers who wish to speed up the vegetative process while yielding healthier, more robust plants with improved resistance and potential for higher yields.
