I decided to try the Blumat moisture meter for $90 and after purchasing i realized that all it does is give me a moisture reading but no data to look at and compare like the Ecowitt WH51 does. So, I cancelled that order and bought the Ecowitt WH51 sensors and WiFi Gateway so I can track the moisture from wherever I am in the world as well as get alerts when moisture levels get below the indicated level. I know that Jeremy recommends to keep the moisture between 25 and the 45%, but at 25% I still had plenty of moisture towards the middle and lower half of the pot because I also have these cheap XLUX meters that are surprisingly very accurate and very close-effective but there is no data that gets recorded. So whenever both my pots got to 25% I checked with my XLUX meter and like I said the middle and the lower half of the pot still had plenty of moisture in them so for me it looks like 20% is when it's time to water my plants. So for me the target is 35%, but I have my alerts set up for 22% and once it gets the 22% I get an email and a notification message in the app letting me know that the soil reached 22% moisture level. Very useful, however, for my 20 gallon pots that are 15 in tall I just can't see these sensors being useful like the XLUX new model the 16-in long probe which I also purchased but after speaking to Ecowitt a couple of days ago on November 2nd 2023 they told me that there is a new WH51L model coming out with a 1 meter long cable/probe sometime in November.
